DecoBike - bicycle sharing program - is expanding beyond Miami Beach

The city of Miami Beach and DecoBike started one of the first bike-sharing programs in the U.S. nearly a year ago, allowing riders who purchase a monthly membership or hourly rental to pick up and return a bike at any of 100 stations. Now, DecoBike is expanding to neighboring Surfside and won a contract for a similar program at Long Beach on Long Island, N.Y. It is also negotiating with Miami's downtown and Brickell areas. The 30-employee company earns revenue from rental fees and ads on the bikes and solar-powered rental stations.
